About my work, my thoughts and my style of art
Art has always been an indispensible part of my life. It played a major role in my childhood when my thoughts were being shaped and formed by my surroundings and later in life when I chose my art as my main occupation. My road has been a tumultuous journey in discovering myself. This is the road which I am sure many artists will travel along before settling to what they believe is their true themselves. And now here I am. My works can be considered a living representation of the people around me. Each piece has a clear and distinct personality just like any individual in the real world. Each work has its own story to tell; stories that may be thought about and discussed for days. Each work includes hints of events and the drama of life as they came to this world and how they lived. The purity of colour is more emphasized in some works and that in my view is not only an aesthetic distinction but also a purposeful formality. I used watercolour as my artistic medium for many years. This was for its natural transparency that acted as a conduit for my own mental and physical connection. In my view the truth-telling transparency of water colour is so strong and powerful that if I was not going to be straightforward with it, the Critics have often pointed out the significance of colour, and choice of lines, broken likes or shades and forms in my work. For me, colours and lines have special significance. Lines come alive when they form shapes. I place special emphasis on specific spaces at times and lines appear to somehow take a differentiating meaning in my works. In some of my works the red line takes the form of my conscious self. It becomes a symbol of my identity and an authoritative representative of my self.
The world outside is often chaotic for me. I try to give this chaos, disorder and disharmony, some new order in my world. This interpretation is a conscious or unconscious Kant like take of the real world events. This way, through the consequences of post Kant interpretations, I struggle with this anomaly in order to offer my interpretation of the real world. This world, the purpose of which is unclear to me, is an undisciplined patchwork of non disharmony that gets connected together through dotted lines that locks them together. The other side of these dotted lines is a conceptual sign connecting the non coherent elements of the outside world which become homogenous and coherent cohabitants in my works. This connection does not have a specific meaning to me and are only shapes and forms which hand in hand hold their visual structure and avoid being in suspense.
